Junior Teams Structure 2025-26
By Stewart Matthewson and Troy Denyer (29/06/2025)

The Glen Waverley Cricket Club is proud to announce a major milestone in its junior development
journey, with the appointment of 2 Coaches for the upcoming 25/26 season.

• Ted Kahandawala Junior Practice Coach - U11’s through to U18’s Mixed sides.
• Heidi Driscoll : Head Girls Coach.

This landmark decision follows strong feedback from members survey’s, which highlighted the need
for greater investment in coaching across the junior ranks. Ted and Heidi’s appointments are a direct
response to that call, bringing a wealth of experience, energy, and a strong desire to develop our
young cricketers. Their roles will be central to delivering a consistent, high-quality coaching experience
that supports both player growth and club culture.

Ted will be present at all junior training sessions—from Under 11s through to Under 18s—held on
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. He will be strongly supported by three dedicated Age
Group Assistant Coaches: Sagar Pawday (U11s–U12s), Troy Denyer (U13s–U15s), and Tushar Bagal
(U16s–U18s). All three assistants, who will also be central communication contacts, are respected
senior players that bring leadership, experience, and a deep understanding of the Glen Waverley’s
culture. Ted has played coached multiple clubs over the last 10 years including Mulgrave CC,  Maccabi
Ajax Junior cricket club and he will also be coaching Narre Warren Cricket Club Seniors in 25/26.

Heidi will be present for all Girls Practise sessions on monday and also at games.
She began playing cricket at Glen Alvie cricket club, playing Juniors and seniors with the boys.
A right arm seam bowler, she currently plays Premier Cricket at Dandenong Cricket Club, with Ash
Ventura as coach,  where she has played for 3 seasons. She has coached the Leongatha district U17
girls side and works for Cricket Victoria, running school and community cricket clinics. She is very
excited to join the Glen Waverley cricket family.

This coaching team is set to deliver a transformative season for the club’s junior cricketers.
We are so excited to welcome Ted and Heidi to the club. When you see them around the club, please
make them feel welcome.

Volunteers are still needed in Match day coaches or team managers. Ted will not be at Match days,
and Troy/Sagar/Tushar can only be at one game. We are in need of team managers/coaches to support
your children. If you are interested, please reach out to Sagar/Troy/Sagar or Kath.

Registrations will open on July 7. Please keep your eye on your Whats app groups and emails for
announcements to join us for another exciting year.

If you have any questions, please email juniors.gwcc@gmail.com or contact Sagar Pawday on
